A bit about the role

In 2026, British Rowing will host the World Rowing Indoor Championships (WRICH) in parallel with the pre-existing and well-respected British Rowing Indoor Championships BRIC. This gives us an anchor point for the evolution of our offering to the growing indoor rowing community, to align various existing competitions and to leverage the benefits of hosting a major international event.

A bit about you

The role will suit someone who is keen to develop their knowledge and experience within sporting events. There will be plenty of opportunities to learn within this role. In particular, we are looking for an individual with the below attributes: 


Essential

  • Passionate about sport and the power it has to change lives

  • Strong planning and organisational skills with evidence of delivering to deadlines

  • The ability to build and sustain relationships with a network of key people internally and externally.

  • Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving and negotiation skills, and the ability to multi-task.

  • A proactive, self-starting approach with a willingness to travel and work flexibly (including some evenings and weekends).

  • IT literate.

  • Calm under pressure.

  • Eagerness to innovate and a desire to learn. 

  • A UK driving licence and the willingness to drive a van to/at events where required. 


Desirable

  • Has worked/volunteered at sporting events previously.

  • Awareness and understanding of the sporting events landscape in the UK. 

  • An understanding of venue operations.

What we offer

£19,500 Contractor fee, 130 days

Due to the nature of the role, flexibility will be required and the role will include time in events and weekends. 


British Rowing prides itself on supporting a positive work-life balance, and is keen to support agile and remote working where possible. While maintaining a good work life balance, this role will require flexibility and to reflect the needs of the business and to ensure core objectives are achieved. Standard working hours are 40 hrs per week.
