Learning Design Specialist

Permanent employee, Part-time · Hammersmith

A bit about the role

As a Learning Design Specialist, you will play a central role in reshaping British Rowing’s qualifications and training offer. Your focus will be on designing high-quality, engaging learning and assessment products that are modern, inclusive and aligned with sector standards.

You will bring deep expertise in learning design and assessment, alongside a strong understanding of awarding body frameworks and quality assurance requirements. Working with a high degree of autonomy, you will deliver learning products at pace while collaborating closely with colleagues to ensure your work integrates seamlessly into wider workforce and volunteer development initiatives.

A bit about you

This role is well suited to an experienced learning designer who enjoys both creative problem-solving and technical rigour. You will:

  • Lead the design and development of qualifications, courses and training products aligned with sector standards (e.g. CIMSPA and awarding body frameworks).

  • Apply contemporary learning design principles across digital, blended and in-situ learning and assessment.

  • Translate complex concepts into clear, structured and accessible resources for learners, tutors and assessors.

  • Work independently to deliver high-quality products ahead of deadlines.

  • Collaborate with internal and external subject matter experts to inform learning and assessment design choices.

  • Refresh and transform existing content into engaging, modern learning resources.

  • Ensure all products meet accreditation, quality assurance and awarding body requirements.

  • Monitor sector trends and innovation, incorporating new approaches into British Rowing’s learning offer.

  • Gather and respond to feedback from learners, tutors and stakeholders to continuously refine products.

If you take pride in producing learning that is well-crafted, inclusive by design and fit for real-world delivery, this role offers the opportunity to shape the future of learning and qualifications across the sport.
