A bit about the role
The Transformational Programme Lead sits at the centre of programme delivery, ensuring that national strategy becomes effective local action. You will lead the rollout of participation programmes, coordinate delivery capacity and ensure that projects are implemented consistently, on time and to a high standard. Clubs and regional partners will rely on you for clear programme guidance, practical support and reliable follow-through.
British Rowing’s Development Directorate is focused on strengthening the foundations of the sport and supporting more people to take part in ways that suit their lives. We work with clubs, community partners and national programmes to broaden access, modernise participation offers and create clearer, more connected pathways into and through rowing. Our approach is evidence-led, collaborative and centred on enabling local environments to thrive.We aim to make rowing more relevant, more welcoming and more sustainable for the long term. This means testing new ideas, supporting clubs to develop, building strong local partnerships and ensuring that volunteers and staff have the tools and confidence to deliver high-quality experiences. The directorate works closely across British Rowing to link participation, workforce, events and talent development into a coherent, inclusive system.
A bit about you
This position is ideal for someone with strong programme and project leadership skills who enjoys working closely with delivery partners. You will:
Lead the end-to-end delivery of participation programmes across indoor and on-water rowing, ensuring activity meets agreed standards and timelines.
Manage programme resources and oversee a team of Project Activators to deliver responsive, high-quality support to clubs.
Build effective relationships with clubs, schools, universities and regional partners, acting as a central coordinating point.
Develop delivery plans, monitor progress, and use evidence and reporting tools to demonstrate impact and inform decision-making.
Support clubs to adopt new formats, pilot innovations and embed successful approaches into their regular activity.
Share learning and delivery insights to help refine and scale programmes nationally.
